The former president's Granddaughter Gets Professional Tips from Golf Legend Woods Ahead of LPGA First Appearance
The rising star boasts impressive online audience
Kai Trump can count on multiple well-known backers when she makes her LPGA debut on Thursday.
The 18-year-old athlete, who is the granddaughter of a former US president, received a special exemption to play at the Annika tournament in Florida.
Her grandfather, someone who loves golf, owns numerous courses worldwide and often competes against Kai.
"He's quite skilled. I can't reveal details but we have some close matches," she mentioned.
The golfer shared that Trump, who cannot attend, counseled her: "Simply don't get nervous."
"My grandpa practically suggested to compete and enjoy myself," she added.
"In my eyes, he's simply a regular grandfather. He won't be there this weekend. He's busy with world affairs, so he's somewhat preoccupied."
As an amateur, the golfer has competed in just three tournaments this year and maintains position 461 in the American Junior Golf Association standings.
But she's able to receive tips from 15-time major champion, in a relationship with her mother.
"He represents the top athlete in the world," Kai expressed.
"Additionally, he's a more impressive human being. He told me to go out there, relax, adapting to whatever happens."
Kai will face several top competitors in the sport at the Annika, featuring second-ranked the champion, England's golfer Hull, Lexi Thompson and 2023 champion champion Vu.
Officials commented that her participation helps introduce the sport to wider groups, especially among the next generation.
The young star boasts substantial online presence and recently launched a personal apparel and wellness label.
She begins at 17:30 GMT.
