'Living a Nightmare': Families of Missing Teens Await News After Ski Resort Fire

The relatives of teenagers lost after a devastating fire at a venue in a Switzerland's alpine town are enduring an excruciating wait for official news and requesting information about their family members online.

The inferno ripped through the Le Constellation bar in the alpine resort, located in the Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the early hours of New Year's Day. Confirmed images depict the ceiling catching alight as bottles with fireworks are raised in celebration.

Emergency services have indicated that it could take an extended period to formally name the those who perished of the disaster, which killed four dozen individuals and injured another 119. A spokesperson stated on Friday that the majority of the those hurt have been identified, with work still underway to name the final individuals.

In the interim, loved ones have been using the internet to appeal for information about their loved ones who were in attendance that evening.

Appeals for the Unaccounted For

"A close friend said they escaped after the fire broke out and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a certain point he lost sight of him," she explained, adding he had been wearing a identifiable piece of jewelry.

One of his teachers said, "I've always been struck by his kindness and positive demeanor, coupled with great maturity. He would frequently ask if get me a coffee."

Alice Kallergis, who holds both Greek and Swiss citizenship but lives full-time in Switzerland, was also at the bar on New Year's Eve, according to sources.
