The relatives of teenagers lost after a devastating fire at a venue in a Switzerland's alpine town are enduring an excruciating wait for official news and requesting information about their family members online.

The inferno ripped through the Le Constellation bar in the alpine resort, located in the Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the early hours of New Year's Day. Confirmed images depict the ceiling catching alight as bottles with fireworks are raised in celebration.

Emergency services have indicated that it could take an extended period to formally name the those who perished of the disaster, which killed four dozen individuals and injured another 119. A spokesperson stated on Friday that the majority of the those hurt have been identified, with work still underway to name the final individuals.

In the interim, loved ones have been using the internet to appeal for information about their loved ones who were in attendance that evening.

Appeals for the Unaccounted For

The whereabouts of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are currently unknown, according to an public plea from his mother.

The who lives of Lutry near the city, informed a publication that she had returned to Lausanne to see if he was in the hospital, while his other parent did the same in Bern, but did not locate him.

"This is a living nightmare, a nightmare. The options are finding my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in critical condition. It's horrific," she told the paper.

She continued that some of his friends had been found with burns covering nearly half their bodies. "It's indescribable; they experienced a terrifying ordeal."

The Italy's foreign ministry has confirmed that a number of of its citizens are still unaccounted for.

One of those is Emanuele Galeppini, a 16-year-old junior golfer, who hailed from Italy but now living in the UAE.

The national sporting body has said that he is deceased, without directly referencing the tragedy, paying tribute to a "young athlete who carried with him passion and authentic values."

His parent, reportedly stated that his son was at the bar and was last in contact around midnight. An official spokesperson has clarified that a formal confirmation of his death is awaited.

Other Cases

Giovanni Tamburi, sixteen, is also among the missing. His mother said that he had been on holiday but had ventured out with friends and found himself at the venue.

"A close friend said they escaped after the fire broke out and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a certain point he lost sight of him," she explained, adding he had been wearing a identifiable piece of jewelry.

One of his teachers said, "I've always been struck by his kindness and positive demeanor, coupled with great maturity. He would frequently ask if get me a coffee."

Alice Kallergis, who holds both Greek and Swiss citizenship but lives full-time in Switzerland, was also at the bar on New Year's Eve, according to sources.

Her brother has shared an urgent request on social media, saying the relatives has had "no news" regarding the 15-year-old or the group she was with, who are also reported missing.

Officials from her country of origin say they are continuing to monitor the developments.
